DERO at present is fork of Monero(Helium Hydra) with CryptoNote protocol.
DERO will be a completely new blockchain technology integrating cryptonote protocol for privacy and new smart contract control on it’s chain.
Dero will bring smart contracts on its DERO blockchain.

I think choosing CryptoNote protocol is a wise choice.
I’m a big fan of theirs, especially after forking my own based on the original ByteCoin codes.

I’ll keep watching this project, especially the smart contract.
