Dero Balance Disappeared

Hey snb - thanks for sticking in !

Forget the swap for now, I don’t expect to have any problems with that.
My problem is registration.

I’ve successfully created a new ‘Stargate’ CLI Wallet.
However, like the web wallet - it won’t ‘Register’.

Here’s a screenshot :

I’ve been through this several times and it does this (fails) after about half an hour.
I do get occasional connection interruptions, but not this regularly.

Any ideas ?

Cheers,
ZF.

Quick update…

I’ve been trying again - still no luck.
Tried without vpn, with vpn - different countries.
Tried different times of day.

Everytime the above error appears somewhere between 5-40 mins.

  • I note it says this should only take “a couple of minutes”

So unless there’s another way to register - I’m currently facing a brick wall.

Cheers,
ZF.

p.s. A reminder that I’m on old win7, in case that’s finally caught up with me.

You are not connected to a node.

You either need to connect to a remote node

./dero-wallet-cli-windows-amd64 --remote

Or you need to run one locally on your machine.

You’ll have to excuse me, I’m in uncharted waters here.

All I can think to try is :

Neither of which obviously worked.

So can you point me to directions re. setting up a node - or explain the next step… what I’m doing wrong ?

I’ll owe you a couple of pints by the end of this.

Cheers,
ZF.

where is your dero file?

Okay I would like to but don’t know how to send you a PM

Tap on my profile picture.
Hit message.

To the best of my knowledge it’s in the Desktop\Stargate Mainnet directory as per in the image above.
Or is it not one of the files in that folder ?

In that folder, run dero-wallet-windows-amd64.exe --remote

This is what I tried.

Cheers,

As above !
(didn’t reply directly to you 1st time).

list all the contents in that directory with dir

Thanks snb, here’s what’s in the folder…

Just noticed “cli” was missing from my previous effort.
Now successfully into wallet - currently waiting to see if it registers this time.

I’ll be back !

Okay. so you have two things here.

the file dero-wallet-cli-windows-amd64, you need to rename it to

dero-wallet-cli-windows-amd64.exe

then from the stargate folde, try to have cmd to run

dero-wallet-cli-windows-amd64.exe --remote

Came up “tx registration dispatched successfully”.
Blockchain is synched.

Seems to have worked, so do you still recommend I follow the above procedure ?

Do you plan swap through TradeOgre (easy mode)?

Or, through the official swap service (hard mode)?

TradeOgre was the plan.

I now have 2 Stargate wallets, call them 1 and 2 :
#1 is the web wallet - which remains un-registered.
#2 is the cli wallet we’ve been setting up.

Are these 2 types of wallet completely independant of each other ?
In other words, if I use the cli wallet from now on - is the web wallet effectively redundant ?

Cheers,
ZF.

Effectively redundant, but entirely useful once registered.

Think of the seed phrase the keys, and the cli or web wallet the door to the DERO Blockchain.

IMO, you can never have enough wallets.

List of helpful wallets to have:

  • hot-wallet
  • cold-wallet
  • web-wallet
  • rpc-wallet
  • [insert project here]-wallet

A registered wallet is an asset. Your computer worked to make it.

Ok, thanks for that.

I do have coins in different wallets, both hot and cold - I’m happy to have a cli one now… as long as I can handle it !

So do you think I’m now in position to swap the coins out ?
i.e. Send to TrOg from my Atlantis web wallet,
then after the required confirmations…
send / receive to my Stargate cli wallet (as is).
